curtains

My next, post IKEA task was changing the living room curtains. The previous ones were seethrough from outside when the lights were on and did nothing against the cold air. This living room isn't that warm and hopefully these will be a big help especially as they are right next to the sofa. also pictured. Various unpacked items

just moved!

I planned to keep a very up to date blog on transitioning a new house to our home. But we got the keys pretty late in the day yesterday and it's been pretty go go go.
We've just got back from ikea so it's time to start.

First thing is this IKEA herb planter and herbs from Aldi.

end of the era

Next weekend I'm giving back the keys to the allotment.

I'm moving house in the new year and will have a garden.

I've found it hard to manage my time this year largely due to work demands but I've also found it hard to be motivated when people ( one in particular) keep chopping down things I planted because they are " trying to help"

The new garden is a blank canvas and the house needs a bit of work to make it ours so I'll be docwnting things here as I regret not keeping a record of things I did to my flat to look back on.

First day of spring

The fedge is not looking much bigger yet but some of the twigs are start to bud.

Artichoke cutting from allotment neighbour is looking good. So far my most successful artichoke attempt.

And the rhubarb I moved at the end of 2017 looks like it's back to health after the stress of its move.

A Fedge

So apparently these Willow twigs will be starting to look like a fence by Spring Time. It's called a Fedge as it's half fence half hedge. Pretty easy to plant, relatively inexpensive and easy to get materials to the allotment without a car. It's also a carbon neutral fuel for anyone with a wood burner.

Borlotti beautiful

These are the most pretty beans, prior to cooking, sadly they look rather dull afterwards.

Cooking up a storm

A lot was ready today so we have potato and spinach pakora and Bombay potato for tonight and for tomorrow I am preparing a potato and cabbage bake using a mix of Savoy and Brussel sprout leaves. Also have two heads of lettuce for this week's lunches in sandwiches or salads.
